Winter Self-Care, Stone City Farm Style
Here in Washington, there's a stretch of the year when the sky goes gray by late afternoon, the drizzle won't quit, and all you want is to get warm and stay warm. We have a favorite fix for that: a hot bath, a scoop of bath salts, and a little time that belongs only to you.
Every one of our bath salts starts with magnesium-rich Epsom salt and gets its scent from 100% natural essential oils. No fillers, no dyes. Each one is handcrafted in small batches, and each one makes a good soak a little more special. So how do you choose? It mostly comes down to your mood.
Luscious Lavender: For the Quiet, Slow-Down Night
You've got a book, a soft robe, and nowhere else to be. Our Luscious Lavender Bath Salt is infused with lavender essential oil. It's our go-to when the goal is pure, unhurried relaxation and an early night.
Eucalyptus: For a Fresh, Breezy Reset
Some gray days call for a breath of fresh air, even when it's too soggy to go outside. Our Eucalyptus Bath Salt is a blend of eucalyptus and spearmint essential oils. It's crisp, clean, and a great match for a relaxing and recharging soak.
Peppermint: For a Cool, Tingly Treat After a Long Day
Been on your feet all day? Our Peppermint Bath Salt is scented only with real peppermint essential oil. It gives your bath a refreshing, tingly cooling feel that wakes up the senses without being overpowering. Short on time? Dissolve ½ cup in a basin of warm water and treat yourself to a 15–20 minute foot soak.
Lemongrass: For the Grayest, Gloomiest Days
When the clouds just won't lift, bring a little brightness indoors. Our Lemongrass Bath Salt is scented with pure lemongrass essential oil. It's refreshing and uplifting, and it feels like a sunny afternoon in the middle of December.
Rosemary Mint: For When You Need to Feel Refreshed
Our Rosemary Mint Bath Salt blends rosemary and peppermint essential oils into a fresh, herbaceous scent: earthy rosemary up front, with bright, cooling peppermint right behind it. It's invigorating and uplifting, perfect when you want to step out of the tub feeling brand new. (Love this scent? It also comes as one of our goat milk soaps.)
How to Soak, the Stone City Farm Way
- Set the mood. Dim the lights, light a candle, and put your phone somewhere far, far away.
- Run a warm bath. Add a handful or two of bath salt under the warm running water so it dissolves as the tub fills.
- Settle in. Soak for at least 20 minutes. Breathe deep and enjoy the scent.
- Pat dry. Step out slowly and wrap up in your softest towel.
- Seal it in. Don't skip the final step (see below).
Pro tip: Keep your bag of bath salt sealed and store it somewhere cool and dry so it's ready for the next gray evening.
Finish the Ritual with Goat Milk Lotion
A cozy soak deserves a cozy finish. While your skin is still warm, smooth on one of our goat milk lotions, made with creamy goat milk and organic aloe, which absorb quickly without feeling greasy. Pay special attention to hands, feet, elbows, and anywhere that tends to get dry.
Two of our favorite cold-weather picks:
- Spruce: Fresh evergreen notes with hints of frosted cedar, like a walk through a snow-dusted forest (minus the cold toes). Lovely after a Eucalyptus or Rosemary Mint soak.
- Cashmere: Warm vanilla, sandalwood, and delicate florals, soft and cozy just like the name. Our pick to pair with Luscious Lavender for the ultimate wind-down.
Prefer to keep it simple, or match your soak? We also make Naked (unscented), Luscious Lavender, Eucalyptus Spearmint, and Sweet Pumpkin lotions. Browse all lotions & creams →
